Dünyanın yedi harikasından biri olan bu anıt mezar bundan ort. 2400 yıl önce Muğla / Bodrum'da yapılmıştır.

This masterpiece, considered as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, was made in honor of the king of Halicarnassus by his wife and his brother. During the time the mausoleum was built two major civilizations existed: the Egyptian and Greek civilization. The cemetry was built as an unified form of these two art forms.  The grave was called as people’s Grave and that is why nowadays is also known with this name. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus has also been used as an open air museum because of its open spaces.

The visitors of Mausoleum at Halicarnassus are adviced to visit the museum in order to fully appreciate this work.  The height of the mosque (in the form of a pit) has found to be 242 meters and the base measurements were of 32 x 38 cm. The Graveyeard of the King while gradually taking the shape of the pyramid towards the top, was in the form of the peak with 24 digits. The sculptures of Artemis and Halicarnassus were transported by 4 hours.

The British researcher Newton  took parts of the carved four-horse cart, found during excavations between 1856 and 1857 and they are today found in the British Museum in London. In 1846, Abdülmecit sent the remnants of the memorial found on the Bodrum Castle to London. Only the castle’s remnants are still in Bodrum, Turkey.

The discovery of the graveyard
The tomb of the king could not be found till 2011.  A lot of research and studies have been done in Bodrum until the king’s grave was found. There was a tomb in the town of Milas of Muğla that was discovered 2500 years ago by a local journalist known as Uzunyuva and was preserved with horseshoes. Ertuğrul Günay, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the time, took part in the efforts to reach the vastly difficult landscape which had several secret passages.
