Think of a fairytale. There is a king and he is only 19 years old. He is quite emotional and he is looking for the real love. He does not like anybody. He becomes excited about a building project that would cause serious economical damage to the state. Beyond the mountains, charming towns, romantic roads of a magnificent valley ( one room is completed in four years) a royal chateau can be seen. This is the story of Neuschwanstein Castle.
The history of Neuschwanstein Castle
The castle was built during the 19th century, period of Neo-Romanticism while the country was under the rule of Ludwig. The castle, whose construction began on September 5, 1869, lasted 17 years and was completed in 1886. Today, the castle welcomes 1.5 million tourists annually.
King Ludwig of Bavaria was considered a madman because of his shy attitude and unsavory behaviors. He used to live far away from his parents’s house stuck in the Swangau lakes and mountains. The castle was finished before the Holy Germany reigning started.
